Homecare Hub, a Canadian provider creating innovative home care and housing solutions, has set its sights on expansion following the close of an oversubscribed $2.5m seed funding round.
With the raise, Homecare Hub has taken another step towards its promise to redefine senior care by providing affordable, high-quality alternatives to large institutional nursing homes through its tech platform.
The company secured backing from leading North American healthcare institutions, seniors organisations, and technology marketplace funds, including Froedtert Health’s venture arm Inception Health, Ballad Health’s venture arm Ballad Ventures and Blue Lion Global, all of which invested.
Additional funding came from established brands in the older adult and ageing space, such as AARP and The Center for Aging + Brain Health Innovation (CABHI), Baycrest’s innovation arm and FHS Capital, as well as a variety of prominent angel investors.
Homecare Hub has seen consistent growth since its launch in 2020, led by Dr Vipan Nikore, an IBM software developer turned internal medicine physician with over 13 years of clinical experience at the Cleveland Clinic.
CEO and co-founder, Dr Nikore, said: “We are thrilled to have support from multiple prominent health systems that serve both rural and urban populations, the world’s largest organisation for older adults, arguably the globe’s top neurocognitive research organisation, and a world-class tech marketplace fund.
“With the depth and cross-sectional experience of this impact driven group, this truly is a dream team that understands the complexity of the senior care and housing problem. They share our vision to create the most exceptional, scalable care and housing experience that has ever existed for patients while driving down costs for payers and improving hospital capacity.”
Diane Ehn, vice president of Post-Acute Care at Froedtert Health, added: “Homecare Hub is leading the way in closing the gaps for complex hospital discharges. The design solution leverages and aligns existing community partners to care for residents who may have long-term specialised or complex care needs.
“This collaborative effort offers our patients the option of living in an affordable supportive home environment, while still maintaining their independence and quality of life. It is exciting to be part of this innovative solution that connects the community resources to our residents’ needs.”
